Anastan Cats are based in beautiful Wiltshire close to Bath. Carol and John Norris are the breeders, and have been involved with pedigree British Shorthair cats since 1999 after many years as owners of domestic long and shorthair cats. Anastan Cats is GCCF registered and complies fully with the GCCF code of ethics.

We originally became involved with the British Shorthair breed following the purchase of our first British Kittens, which were a Self Blue and Blue Spotted from Terry Joplin and Thomas Pick of Pirouette Cats in Shropshire. With Terry and Thomas’s guidance we purchased the first breeding queen of our own, a Blue Spot, and have never looked back!

Anastan Cats does not have many litters a year and all the kittens are born and raised in the home. Once they are old enough, they have free access to the whole house where they can run and play to their hearts content. This also enables them to become accustomed to everyday household noises. Adult cats have free access to a secure garden of their own which keeps them fit and healthy.

Breeding is based on quality and care, for cats and kittens. The Queens only have one litter per year and the Stud boys have been selected for their temperament. Queens are also retired early to ensure their welfare and the birth of healthy kittens.

All our kittens are bred under GCCF guidelines and are not normally sold on the active list as we like to know that our kittens are going to happy, loving homes. We also believe that owners who just want to ‘have one litter’ are not doing so in the best interest of the cat.
